Noob question: Is it possible to stake NMR without going through Coinbase and wiring it to the numer.ai wallet (transfer fees/gas)?

No, NMR can only be staked on the predictions you created for the platform. You will need to move it to your Numerai wallet, create a machine learning model, upload the predictions, keep an eye on your scores for a while, then maybe stake on it.

You might be interested in my response here, you can’t avoid them entirely, but you can minimize them 🙂

i think the fees are high because it’s an Ethereum based coin and gas fees are very high right now (coin transactions cost more to execute the smart contract). Perhaps in future we will see NMR available on a cheaper blockchain or Ethereum 2.0 will solve this.
