Hi everyone,

My apologies for hijacking this Japanese thread. This is Joe from H2O.ai.

I can see there are quite a few Numerai users in Tokyo. I just want to find out if you guys are interested in a data science meetup about Numerai?

We have a local team in Japan as well as a Tokyo meetup group. I know we are not quite ready for in-person events yet but I am planning ahead.

Please let me know if you are interested in an H2O + Numerai meetup in the future. All talks and discussions will be in Japanese (maybe I will do a short intro in English first but the rest should be in Japanese only). Even better if you want to give a talk about Numerai. I can make it happen.

Sounds like a great plan to me. Essentially what you are suggesting is an unofficial meetup for Numeraiers in Japan to exchange some info, right? I guess I can talk about a thing or two depending on its focus.

That’s correct. It will be an unofficial meetup for data science discussion (Numerai is one of the hot topics between us but we are also open to any cool data science topics).

It will take some time for planning but I will keep you all posted.

Another Japanese here. An offline event would be super interesting! I hope we could have that after we all get vaccinated. I know the japanese Twitter community is pretty active, but an offline meet-up is gonna be a nice opportunity for people like me who don’t have a Twitter account to meet other numerai users.

日本語のDOCSを校正しているのですが、Numerai Signalsなどの日本語訳についてみなさんの意見を伺いたいです。
議論を呼びそうな単語と、現状把握している候補を以下に示します。
（＊英語で記載しているのは和訳をせず、固有の単語として使用する、という意味です）
Numeraiの和訳
1.ぬめらい
2. Numerai
3. ヌメライ
4. 数字
5. ニューメライ

Tournamentの和訳

  1. トーナメント
  2. コンペティション
  3. 競争

Signalsの和訳

  1. シグナルズ
  2. Signals

5/2までにこの他の候補について募集します。
5/3以降にフォーラムの投票機能を用いて日本語訳を決定し、DOCSに反映させます。
日本語話者の方、ご協力お願いいたします。

こんにちは。

以下がよいと思います。

・固有名詞やNumerai特有の単語は英語のまま。

Numerai、Signals、Era、Burn era、Earn era、Numerapi、Python、、、

理由：和訳に限界があるので。

・良く知られている一般名詞（カタカナ語が既にあるもの）はカタカナ。

トーナメント

理由：Tournamentと書くよりもわかりやすいので。

Numeraiの発音について

アドレスがnumer.aiになっていることなどもあり、
Numeric AI 的な造語だとすると、発音はニューメライ（英風）
もヌ(ニュ)メライ（米風）も存在すると思います。

こんにちは。

Numerai の和訳は、ぬめらいの方が面白いかもしれません。（doc作成時にぬめらいにしようかと迷いましたが、原文を優先させるためにNumerai にしました。）

Tournamentの和訳：
トーナメント、コンペティション。個人的には原文のままでも良いと思います。

Signalsの和訳：
Numeraiの和訳と合わせた方が良いと思います。
Numerai のままで通すならSignals、ヌメライならシグナルズ、など。

I believe that some of you attended this Tokyo meetup back in 2021 - Numerai Meetup JAPAN2021 - connpass

Do you remember the location of the venue? I am still exploring different options for our next meetup on 8 April. Please let me know if you have any contact info of this venue (or any other good venues).

Great news! We have booked the venue (Space Market in Shibuya) for our meetup on 8 April :partying_face: (thanks again @katsu1110 :pray:)

The Numerai community meetup is essentially a platform for our community members to share their Numerai / general data science experience and to learn from each other. If you are interested in giving a talk or hosting a workshop at our Tokyo meetup in April, please fill out this form. I will get back to you ASAP.

Please also note that this is an event for the local Japanese Numerai community. You can give the presentation in Japanese or English. You can also fill out the form in Japanese :slight_smile:
