Elder Nominations - open until April 27 midnight UTC

Thank you for the recommendation to Elders, @ia_ai. However, I would like to respectfully decline.

I accept.

You might know me for the following contributions:

  1. Bug Reports: Numerai has incredible strengths, but quality assurance isn’t one of them. That is why they rely on the community to help identify bugs. To be frank, I don’t know anyone who has reported more mid-to-high severity issues than I have - ranging from 40% overnight drawdowns and missed payouts to Sybil attack vectors and, most recently, a security vulnerability related to address poisoning in the Numerai wallet (reported in private, now fixed). If you enjoy not losing money on technicalities, you’re welcome.
  2. Radically Transparent Opinions: I’m your personal mix of Mark Baum and Michael Burry from The Big Short, multiplied by two. I don’t shy away from asking the uncomfortable questions that make the project better for everyone, even when the team doesn’t have the answers yet. I also contribute my experience and opinions wherever I can provide the most value to the community.
  3. The YAND Dashboard: Whether you vote for me or not, I will continue to improve YAND - my gift to the community, the apples-to-apples comparison dashboard for Numerai users and models. If elected, I will look into migrating it from free hosting (potentially under the Numerbay umbrella) to address performance issues due to free-tier server limitations.

Thank you for the nomination.
While I’m honored, I’d like to decline for now because I don’t yet feel my community contributions match those of the other outstanding candidates.

danzell: Head of Over-Engineering

Hi fam! I’m danzell, a 37-year-old ML Engineer from Frankfurt Germany.
If you check my Numerai profile, it says “Joined 10 years ago” (OG status confirmed).
While I grew up on Kaggle, I’ve spent the last decade perfecting the art of over-engineering neural networks for the numerai classic tournament.

If there’s a way to point a massive neural cannon at a tiny feature-subset-bird, I’ve probably found it.

You might know me from Discord for:

Why me for the Council?

I am both a builder and an advocate. I love talking about Numerai and have represented the tournament as a speaker at events like Big Data AI World and our local Frankfurt Numerai Meetups.

As an Elder, I plan to:

  • Be a Community Conduit: Always keep an ear on Discord to bridge the gap between users and the team.

  • Continue the Open-Source Ethos: Share stuff like apps and technical insights to help everyone level up.

  • Spread the Word: Keep promoting the tournament locally and globally.

Make NMR great again! :rocket:

Thanks for the nomination — I really appreciate it.

I’ll have to decline for now due to language barriers and limited time to commit, but I hope to contribute in other ways!

Hi all, Im super happy we have so many new accepted nominations and excited for the the expansion. I just wanted to reintroduce myself and tell you all my plans for the future of the CoE and Numerai.

I am Alex but you might know me as “Aventurine” on Numerai and Social Media. I have built a long-running practice in decentralized AI and data science having started submitting on Numerai back in 2020. I recently, with the help of AI/Agents, started also submitting on Signals and Crypto as well. I currently have over 30 models automated over all three tournaments.

I have been on the council for several years. If you have been around awhile, you might know that I used to write the monthly newsletters but I have recently since June last year started a new campaign running the “Numerai/$NMR Marketing and Social Media Initiative”, a passing proposal to help the Council and Numerai reach more visibility on social media. Since June of last year I have grown the CoE account from a couple hundred to over 1300 members, have close to a half million post impressions, and over 5k account visits and counting. I also have attended every CoE Decentalized AI meetup since @ia_ai started those up as well as the recent numercon to gather content for the social media account.

My main goal for continuing in the council is to continue to improve social media presence and public marketing for the Council and Numerai by:
Continuing to establish consistent Messaging around $NMR as an AI token, continue to coordinate with the Numerai Team on content and strategy and discord community utilization, drive community engagement and activation and grow the presence of the Council and Numerai on social media.

I have felt that so far we have been pretty successful but there is always room for more improvement.

My current Goals & Success Metrics:

  • 20–30 quality posts per month across X and Discord

  • Increased engagement (likes, replies, reposts)

  • Growth in followers on the Council of Elders X account as well as, indirectly, the main Numerai X account.

  • Community and Numerai consistently amplifying posts

  • Observable increase in user interest in Numerai (Discord members, new tournament signups, increase in data scientists participating in tournaments)

  • Increased mentions and awareness of $NMR as an AI token across crypto social media

I would love the opportunity to continue pushing and possibly even expanding this role more for the Council, Numerai, community and beyond :flexed_biceps:

Pitch:

  1. NMR needs more alignment with the tournament(s).
    • Numerai wins if NMR wins.
    • Tokenomics and utility are a building block for a community led initiative to thrive. Bittensor has been able to achieve this via their TAO token which has 40x the marketcap of NMR without having a clear PMF yet.
    • Numerai has achieved a PMF with a clear trajectory to achieve greater heights. This isn’t reflected in the NMR token yet.
    • For NMR to achieve the tag of a pristine AI token, concerted efforts are required from, both, the community as well as Numerai to make this push in the right direction.
    • NMR needs to be front and center of the community with a clear value prop for high performers in the tournaments.
  2. NMR needs to be more Defi centric
    • The liquidity on Dexes is thin.
    • This disincentives large spot buys on chain.
    • With the tournament staking shifting on-chain, NMR needs deeper liquidity to onboard more participants, as well as to support high value offramps of the token to Usdc / Eth.
    • Numerai community has latched onto agents big time. For agents to make autonomous calls, in addition to building and submitting ML models, they would also decide when is the right time to buy / sell NMR in order to stake. Bringing NMR into the agent game will enable the agents to make a holistic call to maximise the dollar output of work. Agents are natively onchain and would use Dexes to access NMR liquidity.
    • NMR perps are still nascent. They are a good tool for hedging price volatility for stakers, but are rarely used. Proliferation of NMR perps in the community can be a lever for participants to manage risk and reduce volatility.
  3. Participation incentives
    • Numerai participation is slowly becoming a “whale’s” game. The staking mechanism is highly robust and the right way forward. However, the flip side should not go unnoticed.
    • The barrier to entry in such a system is high. This leaves out highly talented people from joining / committing into the tournament.
    • The participant base in the tournaments seems to have saturated in the past couple of years.
    • There should be incentives for high performers (who may not have staking capital to commit yet). The positive reinforcement of payouts from staking will create a flywheel for such talented people to commit more time and resources into the tournament and even commit more staking capital of their own. The initial friction needs to greatly reduced.
    • Well thought out incentives need to be created which enable higher stakes by high performers, which ultimately benefits the SWMM and feeds into Numerai’s topline.

44m, southwest Germany. 8 years on Numerai. Dry jokes on dry topics — gave a technical talk at a Numerai meetup, hopefully doing it again soon. Running for the Council of Elders because the tournament has shaped a lot of how I think about modeling, and I’d like to give back.

I’m Ling(ster)/fish_n_chips and looking to xgboost NMR and open it up so that even your NaN can stake her pension on Numerai!

But seriously, I’m actually relatively new to the Numerai and Datascience scene since joining the tournament back in May 2025(with the aim of learning DS and 100% of my models are proudly built with AI) and soaking up as much knowledge as possible and resharing where I can(see the github repo with a bag full of goodies).

Recently built https://numeroo.bot which allows you to build a model ready to submit to numerai - no tech or datascience skills required, so lowering the bar to entry and hoping this will mean more people can get involved in NMR. https://numerdiff.imperialai.ai/ - another fun little tool to help you compare your model vs others!

Background is in software engineering, and was around in the land of tape drives and when the save icon was actually a physical floppy(not!) disc. Only just learning about Sharpe ratios, objective functions and jupyiter notebooks, so I hope to contribute more tools for the mere mortals and bring a different angle to the community.

Hey fam, I’m going to pull together all the details about the upcoming CoE election into one post here. Please let me know if anything looks incorrect.

sorry for the spam flag, just restored this post!

Bernardo: Chief Sanity Officer & Mathematica Archaeologist

When I joined Numerai, I had nothing — just one hand in front, one behind, and a laptop. But ambition has a way of compounding, and it brought me here.

I’m a 33-year-old from the same country as Cristiano Ronaldo (though I suspect I have more NMR than him) with a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science, always in a hurry, chasing model improvements in the quiet hours. I’ve been around since near the beginning, back when we had barely 21 numerical features to play with and I was building my first models in Mathematica. I’ve seen every era of this tournament.

ML enthusiast with a tendency to overfit. Once told: “holy mother of overfit city!” Yet I still believe even the smallest feature deserves a pearl necklace. I’ve worked from dawn to dusk — checking numerapi, hunting bugs — just to push my Artemis II up the leaderboard.

My coworkers used to call me the Sanity Checker. As your Elder, I’ll do my best to make sure none of us crash on the way to the moon.

My name is Bernardo. I came here on foot — so yes, we can.

Thanks! Was wondering what I was doing incorrectly!

Hmmm…manifesto, schmanifesto. Although I’d have to say my primary contribution around here is just running my mouth (mostly via keyboard), a “manifesto” smacks distinctly of “campaigning” (for myself) and that’s not really in my wheelhouse. I like to be helpful, and I hope I do that without being too obnoxious. When I meet participants in person, they often express gratitude for said mouth-running, so I’ll take that as a good sign. I’m not afraid to argue with people saying silly things, and I will both criticize or defend Numerai depending on the situation, often on the same day. (I am certainly more obnoxious when I argue, but what can I say, that’s the nature of arguing.) I think I have the (probably begrudging) respect of team (and have occasionally done some behind-the-scenes stuff at their request). I am always looking out for the average Numerai data scientist, and try to bring up issues that I feel might get overlooked otherwise. (And of course not all of my mouth-running is even public – I’ve talked plenty with many of you privately in messages and in-person at events.)

Am I going to create some wonderful tech tools for you and provide a bunch of code, etc? Probably not – other people are way better at that, and the stuff I tend to work on for my own models is so far out of the mainstream that I’m just not up to speed on the latest and greatest things that people are wanting to use. (I do try to dispense some general accumulated wisdom about the nature and structure of the tournament, how things tend to go, etc.)

I was going to pitch some kind of revivial of some more interactive stuff like interviews, virtual meetings, etc, as those have always been good for community, and I know the team wants to see stuff like that. But turns out there has been some planning going on with one of our esteemed users, and we are going to be seeing some kind of podcast soon. So maybe I’ll get involved in that.

Anyway…like I said last time we had one of these elections, I think most of you already have an impression of me one way or the other. I’m gonna keep being me. Vote accordingly.

Thanks again for the nomination! I am an OG Numerati based in Frankfurt, Germany, and have been part of this since early 2017. You probably know me as the creator and former maintainer of numerapi. Now that I’ve successfully transferred the library to the Numerai team this year, I have some extra bandwidth for new things. In my real life, I am a Data Science and Engineering Manager. I personally love the combination of data science, finance, and crypto topics — I’ve learned a ton participating here and want to continue using my experience to promote Numerai, give back to the community, and ultimately make the NMR price go up.

Hello. ShatteredX speaking. Some dudes nominated me and regrettably, I accepted. I ask for your vote to the CoE with the resolve of a man being asked to help carry someone else’s couch up four flights of stairs.

The last council I was elected to was my middle school’s Student Council at the age of 13. At year’s end, when asked who would not be seeking reelection, I alone raised my hand and explained: I had contributed nothing, spoken never, and my chair would be better occupied by literally anyone, including the chair itself.

My IRL job keeps shoveling more nonsense on my desk, meaning I will approach any CoE duties with the engagement level of a houseplant. I do not promise effort, attendance, or in some edge cases, consciousness.

If elected, I will serve poorly, reluctantly, and envision making a statement in a year’s time referencing a chair sitting on itself, etc.

ShatteredX out.

The Numerai Council of Elders election is now officially open!

Voting is hosted on NumerBay (many thanks to @restrading for making this possible). You can access the poll here :backhand_index_pointing_right: numerbay.ai/vote/coe-election-2026 :backhand_index_pointing_left:

Before casting your vote, please review the following important notes:

  • Please read the :backhand_index_pointing_right: manifestos from all candidates :backhand_index_pointing_left: before voting to make an informed decision.
  • The council is expanding from 7 to 9 seats, and you may select up to 9 candidates in this poll.
  • There is no vote splitting or distribution. Each selected candidate receives one full vote. See the example below.
  • Voting power is weighted by your log-staked NMR, calculated as the sum of your stakes across all tournaments (Main, Signals, and Crypto) as of round 1254.
  • The poll will close on 2026-05-18.
  • Your votes are not visible to the public.

We encourage all eligible participants to take part and help shape the future of the Numerai Council. If you have any questions, please ask in the council-of-elders channel on Discord or leave a comment here.

Example:

  • Suppose there are three candidates: A, B, and C.
  • If voter X selects A, B, and C, each candidate receives one vote: A (1), B (1), C (1).
  • If voter Y selects only A and B, then A and B each receive one vote, while C receives none: A (1), B (1), C (0).
  • Each vote is then weighted by the voter’s log-staked NMR, calculated across all tournaments.
